Maryland Heights Amends Housing Bill to Include Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Protections

Maryland Heights Amends Housing Bill to Include Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Protections

Thursday, May 24th, 2013  (Maryland Heights, MO) – Following a unanimous vote this evening from the Maryland Heights City Council, Maryland Heights approved an amendment to the city’s housing laws. This amendment, which was co-sponsored by Councilwoman Kim Baker and Councilman Ed Dirck, Jr. would protect renters and buyers from being discriminated against because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

In most parts of Missouri, hardworking lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) citizens face the constant reality that they could be fired from their job for being LGBT and be denied access to housing and public accommodations.
