Drive Intoxicated, Risk Jail Time This Weekend

The Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) will be conducting two DWI Sobriety Checkpoints during the weekend of May 17-18 at undisclosed locations within the city limits.

The HPD held an earlier checkpoint on April 26 in the 4600 block of Aubuchon Road, one person was arrested for driving while intoxicated. One person was also arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, and four people were ticketed for violations. Three people with warrants out for their arrests were also captured during the checkpoint.

Meet The New Commander of The Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad

 

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI (KTVI)- The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has a new commander.  The Squad is one of the longest standing collaboration of professional law performance agencies in the nation. We introduce you to Ferguson police captain Dan DeCarli.

Captain Dan DeCarli  is the new commander with the Major Case Squad .
He's a 37- year veteran officer and has served 25 years on the Major Case Squad.

The commander is the person on stand by 24- hours a day and decides when the Major Case Squad should mobilized on a crime. The Major Case Squad encompasses six counties in Missouri and four counties in Illinois and serves nearly 2.5 million citizens.

St. Louis Man Charged With Murder In Fatal Crash

COLLINISVILLE, IL. (KTVI) – The St. Clair State’s Attorney’s Office has charged St. Louisan Joseph Friese with first degree murder.  Charge is related to a fatal accident that occurred on April 29, 2013 in the 4700 block of Collinsville Road in Fairmont City, Illinois.

It’s alleged that 27-year -old Friese, intentionally cause the fatal accident; killing an 18-year-old passenger in the other vehicle, who was ejected from the car. 

Friese is being held at the Jennings police department on unrelated federal charges.  His bail has been set at one million dollars.

Hazelwood Man Arrested For Child Abuse

HAZELWOOD, MO. (KTVI) – Lincoln Edward Jones, 21, of Hazelwood, has been taken into custody and charged with child abuse.  The arrest stems from a call for an unresponsive child in 200 block on Chez Vant Drive in Hazelwood. 

The incident occurred on May 14th just after 6:00 pm.  Ems arrived on the scene an found a 4-year-old female drifting in and out of consciousness and suffering from head, neck, back and stomach injuries.

The child was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Upon further investigation by police, Jones was arrest and charged with child abuse.
 

He is currently being held at the St. Louis County jail, with his bond set at $50,000 cash only.

Teen Shot In Spanish Lake

SPANISH LAKE, MO. (KTVI) – St. Louis County Police are investigating a shooting in Spanish Lake that occurred on Tuesday, May 7th at 8:40 pm.  According to police two males were sitting on an electrical box at Spanish Pond and Bellefontaine, when they heard shots being fired from the Spanish Cove apartments.  One of the shots struck a 19-year-old teen that was sitting on the electrical box.

 

Police were called to the scene, where they discovered the second of the two males, a 21-year-old, was found to be in possession of a defaced handgun.  The male was arrested and transported to the St. Louis County Justice Center.

Investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.

The 19-year-old male shot in the hip, is expected to survive his injury.
