Woman, 84, Tied Up, Beaten During Home Invasion | Crime
BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS, MO (KTVI) – An elderly Bellefontaine Neighbors woman is telling a terrifying story about how she was attacked in her own home early Thursday morning by a man who is still on the loose.
Genny, 85, tells us she feels lucky to be alive. She wants the man who attacked her caught and sent to jail to do what she calls “hard time.”
Genny talked with us about the terrifying series of events. She says the man hit her in the nose, which is still beat up, and also kicked her in her side.
Remember she’s 85 years old.
It all happened about 1:00am Thursday at Genny’s home on Bellefontaine Road near Shepley.
Investigators say the man broke in through a basement window.
Genny says she heard noises and when she came out of her room to her kitchen, he attacked her.
Genny says the man was demanding money as he led her back to her room where he hit and kicked her. She gave the man the little money she had along her wedding ring – her husband died in 2004.
Then Genny says the man tied her hands behind her back, pushed her on her bed then tied up her feet.
Genny tells us the man then put a blanket over her, patted her on the back and said she was “going to be ok.”
She says the man took her car keys but didn’t steal her car.
Genny eventually got the tape off that was used to tie her up and ran to a neighbor for help.
She never even went to the hospital.
Bellefontaine Neighbors police say they don’t have much to go on because the man was wearing a mask and gloves.
