Free Hearing, Speech And Vision Testing Set For Saturday

ROCK HILL, MO. (KTVI) – The Center for Hearing & Speech will be offering hearing, speech and vision testing on Saturday, May 18th from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The screenings are free and open to the public, as part of National Better Hearing and Speech month in May.

Judge Dismisses the Majority of Coldwater Creek Cancer Claims

Those fighting a faceless battle my feel a bit of defeat after U.S. District Court judge Audrey Fleissig on Wednesday, dismissed all but one claim in lawsuits filed against Mallinckrodt (now Covidien, which is based in the City of Hazelwood) regarding Coldwater Creek's radioactive contamination and its link to their cancers and other illnesses.

Florissant Police Accepting Your Prescription Drugs - No Questions Asked

The Florissant Police Department will join more than 4,000 other law enforcement agencies from across the country for this year’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In Florissant, you can anonymously drop off expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications at the Florissant Police Department, according to a release from the police.

Anyone desiring a free gun lock can head to one of the following St. Louis metropolitan locations on Thursday between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. A total of 5,200 gun locks are being made available by Project ChildSafe for giving away throughout the region, according to a Tuesday St. Louis County Police Department news release.

Florissant 6-Year-Old Boy Needs Bone Marrow Transplant

FLORISSANT , MO ( KTVI)- By just looking at him, you can't tell anything is wrong with  6 -year-old Clayton Williams from Florissant .He looks like a normal kid who loves playing. But what you can't see is he has bone marrow failure due to sickle cell anemia. His parents found out after a routine check-up just weeks after Clayton was born.

The young boy is learning to deal with the pain,  the horrible cramps and aches as a result of suffering from sickle cell an. Sickle cell anemia is the most common form of sickle cell disease .  The disease is a serious disorder in which the body makes sickle-shaped red blood cells. “Sickle-shaped” means that the red blood cells are shaped like a crescent. Normal red blood cells are disc-shaped and look like doughnuts without holes in the center. They move easily through your blood vessels. Red blood cells contain an iron-rich protein called hemoglobin.

FBI Says Chesterfield Chiropractor Guilty of Massive Billing Fraud

A Chesterfield resident and chiropractor with a 30-year practice was indicted Wednesday by a Federal grand jury on felonies that included billing for health care that didn't happen, and falsifying thousands of documents for reimbursement from insurance.

Anthony William Calandro, 55, could face a maximum of up to 30 years in prison and $3.75 million in fines that include his chiropractic business—if found guilty.

HSD's New Program for Birthday Treats in Classrooms

The Hazelwood School District recently announced that beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, it will implement new nutrition standards as a requirement of its participation in the USDA School Meal Programs.

In light of the district's new nutritional standards, parents are encouraged to use a new service from the Child Nutrition Department.
