Former Missouri Congressman Todd Akin will be in North County this week speaking at the North St. Louis Republican Club's monthly meeting.

He represented Missouri's 2nd Congressional District for more than a decade and was the party's candidate in a run for U.S. Senate against Claire McCaskill last year.

Meet The New Commander of The Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad

 

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI (KTVI)- The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has a new commander.  The Squad is one of the longest standing collaboration of professional law performance agencies in the nation. We introduce you to Ferguson police captain Dan DeCarli.

Captain Dan DeCarli  is the new commander with the Major Case Squad .
He's a 37- year veteran officer and has served 25 years on the Major Case Squad.

The commander is the person on stand by 24- hours a day and decides when the Major Case Squad should mobilized on a crime. The Major Case Squad encompasses six counties in Missouri and four counties in Illinois and serves nearly 2.5 million citizens.

$2.7 Million Lotto Ticket Sold in Florissant

Someone in Florissant is beginning the new week as a millionaire, after one Missouri Lotto ticket matched all six numbers drawn on April 20 to win the $2.7 million jackpot prize.

The lucky ticket was sold at QuikTrip, 2105 N. Highway 67, with the winning number combination of 14, 20, 21, 24, 25 and 35.

In addition to the weekend’s Lotto win, someone in Hannibal won $250,000 playing Mega Millions on Friday night, a Show Me Cash ticket worth $232,000 was sold in St. Louis for Saturday’s drawing and, on Sunday, a Club Keno player in Arnold scored a $55,071 win.

Normandy High School Students Power Up For Robotics Competition

 

NORMANDY MISSOURI  ( KTVI ) The Normandy High School Robotics team would like to inspire future generations to become excited about science, technology, engineering and math through the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics.

The Normandy  Robotics Team was started in 2003, after the head coach secured a NASA grant. Students at Normandy High School were introduced to FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and the FIRST Robotics Competition. Participating in the FIRST robotics competition provided the students at Normandy High School and experience in the areas of math, science and technology,and allowed them to realize new potential, and excel to new heights.

Ms. Ninfa Matiase Biology teacher secure a NASA Grant. The Normandy High School team currently has 26 active student members and 3 mentors.

Hazelwood WWE Hero Randy Orton Returns Home

It will be a homecoming for Hazelwood native WWE® Superstar Randy Orton® when he attends 2013 Wizard World St. Louis Comic Con on Friday, March 22, at America's Center.  Orton will meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photo-ops in a two-hour appearance from 5:30-7:30p.m.

Orton, who earned the distinction of being the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in WWE history, saw his star rise when he won the World Heavyweight Championship at the unprecedented age of 24.

Winning $1 Million Florissant Lotto Ticket Not Yet Claimed

The person who has a $1 million winning Powerball ticket, which was purchased in Florissant, has yet to come forward, according to a Missouri Lottery news release.

The Powerball drawing took place Feb. 16 and had the winning numbers 15, 16, 46, 50 and 58. The ticket was bought at Shop ‘N Save at 175 Flower Valley Shopping Center in Florissant.
