Board Approves Bond Sale, Construction Begins This Summer

As soon as students leave the halls of School District of University City schools for summer vacation, work will begin on several construction projects.

The Board of Education Thursday approved the sale of bonds from the Proposition U measure, allowing the district to begin work on school improvement projects immediately.The board also approved an initial construction contract with Ameresco Construction for Phase 1 of the work.

U City School Meal Prices Going Up Next Year

Meal prices at School District of University City schools are going up next school year. The Board of Education approved the hike at its meeting Thursday.

Lunch prices are going up 15 cents, to $1.90 at the elementary level and $2.30 at the secondary level. Breakfast rates are going up 10 cents to $1.10 and $1.35.

$3 Million in Revenue on Hold for Pattonville Schools While State Sorts Out Casino Valuation

The Pattonville Board of Education approved changes to its 2012-2013 budget that didn’t spell good or bad news necessarily.

The district saw an increase of $4.1 million in revenue as well as an increase of $1.2 million in spending, according to district documents. The district remains on target as expected with its budget, Chief Financial Officer Richard Orr said.

2 Ferguson-Florissant Teachers Honored by Science Center Award

The Saint Louis Science Center’s Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb Prize for Excellence in Teaching Science & Mathematics named two Ferguson-Florissant teachers as finalists for the prize.

Kristine Becker of Halls Ferry Elementary School and Erin King of McCluer North High School were two of five finalists recognized in the entire St. Louis area.
