Drive Intoxicated, Risk Jail Time This Weekend

The Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) will be conducting two DWI Sobriety Checkpoints during the weekend of May 17-18 at undisclosed locations within the city limits.

The HPD held an earlier checkpoint on April 26 in the 4600 block of Aubuchon Road, one person was arrested for driving while intoxicated. One person was also arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, and four people were ticketed for violations. Three people with warrants out for their arrests were also captured during the checkpoint.

Lambert Airport Chosen As Touchdown For Historic Solar Impulse Flight

NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO. (KTVI) - Lambert-St. Louis International Airport is the final airport chosen for a stopover during the upcoming cross country flight of the Solar Impulse, the first aircraft capable of flying 24 hours day and night using solar energy as power.

The Solar Impulse Across America flight began in San Francisco’s Moffett Field. Lambert will be the Midwest US stop with a tentative arrival around the end of May, according to a press release.

The flight plan also includes stops at Phoenix Sky Harbor, Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington DC-Dulles and New York’s JFK. Solar Impulse said not one drop of fuel will be used along the way.

Hazelwood Police Set to Catch Intoxicated Drivers this Weekend

The Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) will be conducting a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint this weekend, April 26 or 27, at an undisclosed location within the city limits. Area municipalities receive grants throughout the year to conduct these checkpoints.

"Sobriety checkpoints are an innovative means of detecting and removing the alcohol-impaired driver from our local streets and highways," Hazelwood Police Chief Gregg Hall said in a statement.

Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Walking Into Oncoming Traffic

Police are trying to figure out why a woman parked her car on the side of the road and allegedly walking into oncoming traffic.

A car hit the North St. Louis County pedestrian at about 7 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Bellefontaine Road and Claudine Drive, according to the St. Louis County Police Department (St. Louis County Police).

Florissant Police Arrest Two, Ticket 35 in DWI Saturation Patrol

A Florissant DWI saturation patrol held this past weekend in Florissant netted three arrests and 35 tickets.

Police arrested two men for felony driving while intoxicated charges, and the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office issued warrants Saturday for the arrests.

I-270 Canal Bridge Lane Closures To Switch Wednesday

Road work on the eastbound lanes of I-270 at the Chain Of Rocks Canal Bridge is expected to be completed Wednesday, October 17, as long as the weather cooperates. Once the lanes reopen, westbound lane closures will immediately take effect.  According to IDOT, the westbound road work is expected to take until Saturday, October 20. 

IDOT crews have been making repairs to the existing bridge surface while a new bridge is being built. Lane restrictions are in place 24 hours a day.  Delays are expected and drivers are asked to consider alternative routes.

Florissant Family Injured in I-70 Accident Saturday

A Florissant family was involved in a multi-car crash on Interstate 70 of the Blanchette Bridge Saturday afternoon.

Four cars, who were all traveling westbound, were involved, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report.
